Our Most Important Funding Event of the Year
Our Annual Plant Sale serves as our main funding source for all our programs. It helps support Educational Outreach programs and community gardening projects that the WSU Extension Pierce County Master Gardener Program provides year-round—including youth outreach, sustainable horticultural education, and gardening clinics for the public.
For example, our free Ask-a-Master Gardener clinics, Demonstration Gardens, Youth Gardening Workshops, Saturday Garden Talks, or Master Gardener presentations are all underwritten by the proceeds we receive through our Annual Plant Sale. To keep these important, educational programs going, we depend on your generosity. Thank you for attending, sponsoring, or donating at any time throughout the year!
We’re moving to a new location – May 2 & 3, 2026!
The Pierce County Master Gardener Foundation is thrilled to announce our upcoming 2026 Plant Sale—coming to the Puyallup Fairgrounds in the AgriPlex and Tractor Supply Arena during the first weekend of May.
Moving to the Fairgrounds means that we can host many more visitors from across the state! In addition to offering a variety of plants grown and cared for by Master Gardeners for sale, we will have carefully selected vendors and community partners, along with classes, clinics, and hands-on demonstrations throughout the event for a fully immersive gardening experience.

Because 2026 is going to be our biggest plant sale yet—now, at the Puyallup Fairgrounds—for the first time, we’re inviting our valued community partners to sponsor next year’s annual plant sale.
Your sponsorship will not only showcase your commitment to our community’s well-being and environmental education, but it will also give your business positive exposure to thousands of attendees throughout the weekend and other cross-marketing opportunities.
The process begins with growing as many sale plants as we can.
While our location is changing, the work to be ready by next spring starts this fall. The task is to create a ‘pop-up nursery’ using the expertise of your local Master Gardener volunteers. Below is just some of the work that goes into creating our Annual Plant Sale.
Starting thousands of plants from seeds, cuttings, and divisions
After Labor Day, our volunteers begin the process of growing new plants for the next year’s plant sale. We take cuttings from existing plants and divide bulbs and grasses. At the beginning of the new year, we begin planting thousands of plants from seed, timed so that they are the right size for planting when the plant sale arrives. We use our yards and greenhouses and good old fashioned growing know-how to do our best to bring you a large selection of quality plants.

Once we’ve marshaled all our resources, we start training volunteers on all the aspects of running our two day nursery. We want you to have the best possible experience while shopping for the broadest possible array of plants. All at a reasonable price. It is a lot of work, but everyone involved grows from the experience. It is one of the most rewarding ways for us to provide you the plants you want while bringing in the revenues we need in order to fund our programs throughout the year and expand our services across the years.
